2006-2008 Awards Criteria

Jefferson County Swim Council, Inc

Purpose of Awards: The purpose is twofold: first, to honor and recognize outstanding individual performance of

summer season swimmers; and, secondly, to foster and encourage future participation in the sport of competitive

swimming.

Qualifying Meets: Times obtained at the following meets will be considered for the awards:

1. VSA Invitational

2. Division Championship Meet

3. County Championship Meet

Awards: The following awards will be given to those individuals satisfying the specific award criteria:

1. All-Star

2. All-County

3. Merit

Award Criteria: The time standards referred to below are published in the JCSC Rules, Appendix B: Motivational

Time Standards to obtain an award, the following criteria must be satisfied:

1. 8 and Under:

(a) All-Star:

i.              First Place in an individual event in the County Championship Meet; or,
ii.             Two (2) AAA times in two different events; or,
iii.            Three (3) AA times in three different events; or
iv.            One (1) AAA time and two (2) AA times in three different events.

(b) All-County

i. Second Place in an individual event in the County Championship Meet; or
ii. Three (3) A times in three different events; or,:

iii. One (1) AA times and one (1) A time in two different events; or
iv. One (1) AAA times in any event.

i.              Third Place in an individual event in the County Championship Meet; or,
ii.             Two (2) A times in two different events; or,
iii.            One (1) AA time in any event.

2. All other age groups:

(a) All-Star:

i.              First Place in an individual event in the County Championship Meet; or,
ii.             One (1) AAA times in an individual event; or,
iii.            Two (2) AA times in two different events; or

(b) All-County

i. Second Place in an individual event in the County Championship Meet; or

ii. One (1) AA times in an individual event; or,
iv. Three (3) A times in three different events.

i.              Third Place in an individual event in the County Championship Meet; or,
ii.             Fourth Place in an individual event in the County Championship Meet; or,
iii.            Two (2) A times in two different events.

Petition and Notification: The JCSC Awards Committee will review the final results of the qualifying meets and determine the swimmers to be honored according to the criteria outlined above. It is unnecessary for parents, coaches, or other meet officials to complete “award sheets” and petition JCSC for a swimmer’s award. After publication of the final results of the last meet, the JCSC Awards Committee will notify the swimmers scheduled to receive the award, and communicate the place time and date of the Awards Ceremony.
